Five Minute Everyday Makeup Routine

Happy Thursday, everybody! Hope your week is going well :). Today’s post is one that I’ve been wanting to share since I started this blog because I feel like everyone is always trying to perfect their makeup routine. Personally, my look is always pretty minimal and natural. So today I wanted to share my five minute makeup routine will have you out of the door in no time.

When it comes to my beauty products, it ranges from high-end products to natural to drugstore from a ton of trial-and-error. One big lesson is that more money doesn’t always add up to better products, which is good news for my wallet! I’ve already shared a full list of my favorite drugstore products here if you’re curious, and you’ll see a few of them applied in this post too.

Today’s post showcases the products that I reach for every morning, which you can also shop below. (For your reference, I developed the below widget with ShopStyle Collective. So I get $.05 commission for clicks made through links in this post.)

Step One: Apply a Primer

An often forgotten, skipped step in an everyday makeup routine, applying a primer is SO important to achieving a flawless application. I especially like a moisturizing, hydrating primer for a dewy finish. It helps makeup go on smoother and last longer.

My favorite is Too Faced Hangover Primer that is infused with coconut water with probiotic-based ingredients and is formulated without silicone and parabens. This is my holy-grail, godsent primer! With normal to dry skin, this locks in moisture and ensures no flaking or dry patches.

For the application, I just use my fingertips to rub into my skin and this gets the blood circulating underneath too.

Step Two: Build Your Base

Similarly to the primer, I utilize Too Faced Born This Way Foundation because I love the ingredients of their products. With more coconut water for hydration, infused with the resilient Alpine Rose to brighten the skin’s appearance and Hyaluronic Acid (a moisture-binding ingredient) that provides long-lasting, skin-balancing hydration for a smoother, more youthful appearance.

This has the potential for very buildable coverage, but when applying I just add a little bit to my skin. For a natural, everyday makeup look, a little goes a long way!

To blend the foundation, I’ll either use a makeup sponge like this or I love the expert face brush by Real Techniques. With a makeup sponge, I’ll wet it with a little bit of cold water before blending, which really helps achieve a dewy finish.

Next, apply your concealer. Occasionally, I skip this step if I’m short on time. But I really love Maybelline Fit Me Concealer. If you use it a shade lighter than your foundation, it provides a natural looking highlighter effect.

I apply this only under my eye, and the application is very important. Don’t just dot it under your eyes, apply an upside-down triangle and blend.

Step Three: Add Color

I love this bronzer/blush powder duo from e.l.f. Just a light sweep of bronzer underneath my cheekbones, on the sides of my forehead and sides of my nose. Add blush to the cheekbones as well as a little highlighter just above the blush.

Then, I apply my absolute favorite highlighter for an everyday, healthy glow, which is Colourpop Super Shock Highlighter in the shade Wisp. I love love LOVE a warm, bronze-y highlighter.

Step Four: Finishing Touches

Some days I’ll even just skip down to these finishing touches because sometimes all you need is mascara and lipstick to make you feel put together! So I certainly never skip these steps. I do however skip eyeshadow on most days (unless special it’s a special occasion). This saves me a few minutes and is preferable for a more natural look.

Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara

As far as mascaras go, Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara is my go-to. I love the hourglass brush for separating, coating, and curling the lashes – never any clumps! For lipsticks, I rounded up three of my favorite everyday lipstick shades here.
