Three Everyday Lipstick Shades

December 14, 2017 0 Comments

When it came to lipstick, it truly took me a long time to come around. I’ve always preferred very natural looking makeup, and still do, and never really applied anything to my lips beyond chapstick. (Like not even glosses!) But bold, dark matte lips are a beauty trend that you just can’t ignore and I think everyone wants to pull off. And frankly, a bold red lip specifically is a classic that I personally think looks beautiful on everyone!

As my favorite beauty icon once said, “On a bad day, there’s always lipstick.” Now, whenever I swipe on one of my favorite shades of lipsticks makes me feel polished and confident. It can change my whole mood! (Sometimes it’s the little things, you know?) Plus, it’s a simple way to elevate your look no matter the occasion or outfit.

But just like any trend, you have to figure out what works with your personal style. With the holiday season just around the corner, there’s going to be plenty of events where I want to feel my best and look put together. So today I’m sharing three everyday lipstick shades that I love – all for different reasons – that I will be rotating all season long.

Every girl needs a go-to nude for an everyday lipstick shade and this one is mine. It’s the perfect MLBB (my lips but better)! It seriously hasn’t left my purse because I always find myself reaching for it. With a more gloss-like consistency, it goes on flawlessly and it’s creamy which means it won’t dry out your lips. Usually, I’m not a huge fan of many nudes but, with just a hint of pink, this is my absolute favorite EVER. This is a Colourpop Ultra Glossy Lip in the shade called Aquarius.

For an everyday red shade, I love a brighter, poppy color. Sometimes it can be really fun to mix lipsticks to create a custom shade, which is what I’ve done for this look by combining two lip stains. These are both shades that I love independently or together. Plus, both of these lippies are moisturizing – a must for this time of year! If you’re not a big fan of the shine, then skip the Colorupop Ultra Glossy Lip in Stain. However, I’ve found Stain to be very natural looking as far as reds go, which is why I love it as an everyday shade. I fell in love with Revlon’s Balms because they tend not to be as pigmented as regular lipsticks, as well as feel and look lightweight compared to some powerful matte formulas.

Everyday Lipstick Shade

This is my absolute favorite color at the moment. Every time I’ve applied this Colourpop Lippie Stix, I’ve received a compliment, which makes me feel like a million bucks! It’s a very rich color of red that has a very subtle hint of cranberry making it perfect for the holidays and beyond. And it’s definitely darker than a traditional, fire-engine red that makes it a great addition to your collection of red lipsticks if you’re anything like me with every shade under the sun.

The formula is very long lasting while also being incredibly comfortable to wear. I love Colourpop’s Lippie Stix because the formula contains Vitamin E, Mango, Avocado, and Shea butter for added comfort and moisture. So despite being a matte, it applies and looks so smooth without drying out.
